AICB Marga Schulze Merit Scholarship Scheme for College/University going Visually Impaired Girls for 2015 - 2016 Academic Session - Sponsored by CBM

The Marga Schulze Foundation based in Germany is assisting blind girls in Africa and Asia in a big way to pursue higher education through CBM. Late Dr. Hans-Eugen Schulze, himself a visually impaired person and a retired judge of the Federal Court of Germany started this Foundation in 1996 in the memory of his wife, Marga Schulze and the assistance is routed through CBM, a leading international organization committed to the cause of services for persons with disabilities for the past over 100 years. In India, the Scheme is implemented by two leading organizations—through UDIS Forum in South India, Maharashtra and Goa and through All India Confederation of the Blind in rest of the country. AICB has been implementing this Scheme since 2000-2001 and has, so far, granted 1102 merit scholarships of Rs. 1,28,37,381/- for educational empowerment of visually impaired girls in the country.

Under this Scheme, merit scholarships are awarded for undergraduate, Post graduate and B.Ed. courses. The monthly rate of scholarships is Rs. 1000/- for undergraduates, Rs.1500/- for post graduates and Rs. 1250/- for B.Ed. courses.

66 students were found eligible for continuation of their scholarships for the current academic session.

The Confederation received 191 new applications for the academic year 2015-2016, out of which 122 were found eligible. Thus a total of 188 applicants shall receive merit scholarships from AICB for the academic session 2015-2016 which are studying in various colleges/universities in 9 States.
