ANNOUNCEMENTS

  1. Under the Scheme of Marga Schulze Merit Scholarships supported by CBM/Marga Schulze Foundation, female blind students of B.A. second year, third year, B.Ed., MA first and second years and M. Phil can apply for scholarship till the 31st August, 2017 in the AICB office. Application form can be downloaded from our website www.aicb.org.in/otherresources.html
  2. Students obtaining first and second positions in Masters degree in any subject except Music and Fine Arts from a recognised university, can apply in the prescribed proforma for "Krishna Kumari Varma Memorial Award", started by Dr. Ved Prakash Varma, by 31st October, 2017 in AICB office. The selected candidate will be awarded with a memento and a certificate in addition to a sum of Rs. 21,000 on the occasion of Louis Braille Birth Anniversary.   3. Students acquiring first position in M.Phil from a recognised university can apply for "Krishnawanti and Manoharlal Memorial Award", which has also been started by Dr. Ved Prakash Varma in the memory of his parents. Applications of the eligible candidates in the prescribed proforma should reach AICB office by 31st October, 2017. The selected candidate will be awarded a memento, a certificate and a sum of Rs.25,000 on the occasion of Louis Braille Birth Anniversary.
  4. "Aket Kansil Memorial Award": Student acquiring first position amongst blind student in CBSE 12th class can inform AICB about the same. The Award will comprise of a sum of Rs. 15,000, a memento and a certificate, which will be conferred to the student on the 4th January, Louis Braille Birth anniversary.
  5. Written entrance test for One-year Advanced Computer Training Programme will be conducted on the 31st July, 2017 at 9 O'clock in the morning. Interested graduate students possessing basic computer knowledge and excellent command over English language can visit AICB on the aforementioned date. Successful candidates will be admitted in the course from 1st August.
  6. One-year Shorthand-typing Course: Interested candidates possessing at least the following qualifications can appear for the entrance test on the 31st July at 9 O'clock in the morning at AICB office. 12th class from any recognized Board, good command over Hindi language and ability to read and write Braille. Successful candidates will have to produce certificates of educational qualifications and blindness. The session will commence from 1st August 2017.

ALL INDIA MADANLAL KHANDELWAL BRAILLE ESSAY COMPETITION 2017

The readers must be aware of the fact that Mr. Madanlal Khandelwal had always thought and contributed for the betterment of the blind brothers and sisters of India despite living abroad for years. His thoughts and ideas were creative. He was not a preacher, but he certainly wanted to prove his worth. It is true that he always lived a saintly life.

Therefore, the Confederation has been organizing Braille Essay competition to commemorate his contributions for the last five years. This competition was organized in different languages last year, namely, Hindi, English, Marathi and Tamil. But it has been noticed that we are not getting entries up to the mark. Justice is not done to such a great personality. Therefore, the national Executive Council of the confederation, in its recent meeting, has decided the following:

  • The age limit for the junior group would be reduced from 25 to 18 years of age, so that school-level students are not challenged by college students, and they can participate with open mind and heart.
  • Any person who is 19 or more can participate without any hesitation in the senior group.
  • It was decided that name, address etc. will not be included in the word limit of the essay.
  • The minimum word limit of the essay for senior group shall be 800, and maximum limit shall be 1000 words. For junior group, minimum word limit shall be 500 and maximum word limit 700.
  • The essayist will have to ensure the accuracy of Braille, diction, suitability of style, and interesting presentation of the mentioned facts while writing the essay.
  • The essay submitted should be original in nature, and it should not be copied from website or any other source.
  • The essayist should use either Braille slate or Braille typewriter to write his/her essay.
  • For junior group, the first prize will consist of Rs. 8,000, second 5,000 and the third prize will consist of Rs. 3,000. For the senior group, the sum of Rs. 10,000, 7,000 and 4,000 will be awarded to the first, second and third winners respectively.
  • The topic of the essay for the junior group will be ‘Visually Impaired Students and Sex Education’, (Yon-Shiksha aur Drishtibadhit Chhatra-Chhatraen) while the topic for the senior group shall be ‘India's Space Research Programme--Utility and Relevance’ (Bharat Kaa Antariksh Khoj Karyakram—Kitana Sarthak Kitana Prasangik)
  • The essay should reach AICB office by 15th September, 2017.
