10th National Braille Reading/ Writing Competition for the Blind
We are pleased to inform you that on completion of 30-year service to visually impaired brothers and sisters, we have decided to conduct 10th National level Braille Reading and Writing Competitions for Junior and Senior groups on the occasion of 202nd Louis Braille’s Birth Anniversary. The objective of this competition is to promote Braille reading and writing habits in blind students at school stage. You are well aware that in order to achieve this objective, we have been sending free of cost Chandamama, Champak and Nandan to a large number of Institutions and Braille libraries for the blind.
Details of the competition are given below:-
a) Hindi Braille Reading Competition Class-3 to 5
b) English Braille Reading Competition Class-6 to 8
c) Hindi Braille Writing Competition Class-9 to 12
d) English Braille Writing Competition Class-9 to 12
- Each school can send 3 participants—one from Class-3 to 5, one from Class-6 to 8 and the 3rd from Class-9 to 12th.
- For the last group, you can send the best student either having very good language skills in Hindi or in English.
- For Hindi Braille reading competition, use of contractions shall not be made.
- For English Braille reading competition, Grade-2 English Braille (Contracted) shall be used.
- For Hindi Braille writing competition, contractions shall not be used while for English Braille writing, Grade-2 English Braille (Contracted) shall be used.
1. For each group, the students securing the first three positions shall receive “AICB-Anne & Arne J. Husveg Award” consisting of:
a) First position holder: Memento of Louis Braille, Rs. 10000.00 and certificate
b) Second position holder: Memento of Louis Braille, Rs. 5000.00 and certificate
c) Third position holder: Memento of Louis Braille, Rs. 3000.00 and certificate.
The Competition shall be held on 3rd January, 2011 at the premises of Braille Bhawan, Sector-5, Rohini, Delhi-110085 from 9.30 a.m. onwards. Cash prizes and certificates shall be given away on 4th January in a grand function. |
